Ben is the Founder of Seedlip, the world’s first distilled non-alcoholic spirits. His mission is two fold: Solve the dilemma of ‘what to drink when you’re not drinking’ and continue his family’s 300 years of English farming heritage.
Leaving school at 18, Ben began a career in branding working on some of the world’s biggest drinks companies and luxury brands before founding his own design agency and subsequently leaving to pursue Seedlip which launched to great acclaim in November 2015 in Selfridges, London. Seedlip has since been championed by top Chefs and Bartenders worldwide and is now served at some of the best hotels, bars and restaurants around the world including The Fat Duck, The Ledbury, The French Laundry, Eleven Madison Park, The Ritz and The Savoy.
Small Beer Brew Co. is the world's first dedicated 'small beer' brewery. We have completely re-invented the brewing process from start to finish, putting low ABV beer at the forefront of production, without compromising on flavour. Our slogan, 'Small Beer, Big Taste'. The founders, ex-Sipsmith duo James Grundy and Felix James, are determined to transform the way we consume and think about beer, having reinvigorated the tradition of small beer from the 18th century. In a short time, the brewery has already added 3 unique and delicious beers to their offerings, brewed between 0.5 -2.8%
Small Beer Lager: A pilsner style, Saaz hops give the continental nose. Deliciously rich in body, yet a wonderfully refreshing beer. ABV 2.1%
Small Beer Dark Lager: Soft notes of coffee beans, chocolate & toast lead on to a persistent smokey finish. ABV 1%
The Original Small Beer Steam: it's all rich rye with a beautiful citrus backbone & a balanced hop bitterness on the finish. ABV 2.7%
Brewed in the heart of South Bermondsey, sustainability is at the forefront of the brewing process, having greatly reduced the amount of water used to brew our beer and being the first of our kind to enact a 'Dry Floor Policy'. Small Beer. Big Taste. Sustainably Brewed.
Locksley Distilling Co. Ltd. was born in March 2013 – we have a multi-phase growth plan, the first part of which was the launch of our trademark gin. Research, branding work, and flavour development were all done in Sheffield. We experimented with around 100 recipes over an eight month period before going back to number 61. Sir Robin of Locksley Distilled Artisan Gin was finally launched in July 2014. We make small batches of 1,000 to 1,200 bottles for the UK, and we are now selling approximately a batch per month in our immediate environs. We are slowly expanding our footprint domestically, and started exporting to the USA in the summer of 2015, with a batch of 672 bottles. We moved into our permanent home at the start of 2015, but until we receive our full licensing approval from HMRC we are temporarily working with a partner distillery. We have bonded warehouses in London and South Yorkshire, and are currently labeling and packaging from our Sheffield premises. Further down the line and looking towards the future, we have plans to open tasting room as well as developing and producing other projects, including contract distilling and the manufacture of bespoke private labels.
"We will never be the largest distiller, but we strive to be the best!"
