Danni Barry

Danni hails from Mayobridge a small village in Co Down, N Ireland. Her farming background meant that food was a big part of life growing up from helping her mother in the kitchen to growing their own potatoes and vegetables.

Biography

Danni hails from Mayobridge a small village in Co Down, N Ireland. Her farming background meant that food was a big part of life growing up from helping her mother in the kitchen to growing their own potatoes and vegetables. Danni’s first job as a kitchen porter in a local restaurant inspired her to choose a career as a chef and a weeks work placement in Deanes restaurant Belfast led to a 4 year apprenticeship under Michael Deane.  Danni continued her culinary journey and travelled and worked all over the world including Australia, New Zealand and Spain expanding her knowledge as she went. Danni then headed up the kitchen team at Simon Rogan’s restaurant Rogan and Co, sister to two Michelin starred L'enclume for 4 years, before returning to Belfast to open Eipic for Michael Deane. After just 18 months Danni achieved one Michelin Star for Eipic becoming the first female chef from Northern Ireland to hold this accolade.  Danni has recently taken a new step in her career as Executive Head Chef at Balloo House, Killinchy, Co Down. Danni's signature of creative, flavour driven cooking while championing great local ingredients can be tasted here in both the pub dining offering downstairs and an exciting new upstairs restaurant The Grill Room at Balloo, due to open May 2019.
